About Sea
Always going places

Sea Stachura’s work in documenting and storytelling began with her first job as a human rights observer in Chiapas, México. In the 20 years since, she has continued to be awe struck by humanity’s vastness. Her work often features dismissed or marginalized people and uncomfortable truths. Her work can be found on NPR, GPB, USA Today and other outlets.
In 2021, her reporting prompted the U.S. Department of Justice to re-open its investigation into Augusta, Ga.’s 1970 Civil Rights-era rebellion. More recently, she has conducted oral histories for the Jewish community of Greater Augusta and led the revitalization of the Authors Club of Augusta, a 100-year-old literary nonprofit.
She earned an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. Originally from Detroit, Sea is a cultural transplant, currently living in Georgia.
Sea’s email is her full name at the ubiquitous gmail.
